The Madness Behind My Pursuit To Rid Toxic Junk From My Life

The madness behind my pursuit to rid toxic junk from my life and why you should join me. Read all about over at

I’m so excited to share with you my love affair with essential oils. I say affair because, let me tell you, these amazing oils are part of my everyday everything. No kidding!

My Oil Journey

May 2014. At first, I just went with the flow and used the oils primarily for diffusing so that my house would smell so refreshing and boy did it smell good. One weekend I had time to piddle around with the oils so I pull out some bowls and spoons rounded up a spray bottle, dug in the drawer for some roller bottles I previously bought for who knows what and got busy making a bug spray, a roll on for pains, and a roll on for cuts.

So now I’m armed and not so dangerous with my small teeny collection of oil remedies. The next weekend I packed up my new BF (my diffuser) and grabbed my oils and bikini and headed to the lake to meet up with my for reals BFF.

This IS What Happen When I Got To The Lake

I start unpacking my super cool oil collection and my BF is watching me with the ever so curious eyes as I fill the diffuser and start it up, unpack my bug spray, and lay out my oils. I proceed to start spraying everyone with my super cool and wonderful smelling bug spray and we head out to the deck. The entire time we are out there not one single bug came near us. How cool is that. And no chemicals…..even cooler.

My Love Affair With Oils Started And I'm Not One Bit Mad About It

I couldn’t wait to make other oil recipes. And that’s exactly what I did. I now make my own face wash, face serum, face lotion, body lotion, household cleaner, fabric softener, hand soap, bug spray, lotion for poison ivy, sleepy time lotion and many other remedies. My next recipes I made was a Sea Salt spray for my hair and sunscreen. This new way of living is pretty dang exciting. I now know every single ingredient in my stuff.....all of my stuff. Stuff that I'm applying to my skin, the largest cell surface on our body that absorbs all the things and sends it straight into our system.

Basically, since May 2014 I have not taken a single Ibuprofen or Advil, used OTC deodorant, toothpaste, face products, sunscreen, allergy meds, or household cleaning products. I am so happy that I have been able to reduce the amount of chemicals that I put in/on my body and in the air. How awesome is this. Naturally made by the earth and offers so much more to our beautiful lives than any bottle of pepto bismol will ever offer.

No More Candles In My House

Did I mention I no longer use candles or other types of smell goods for the house…..just my diffuser. I also have not called in to work sick like many of my co-workers. When I feel something going on (like I might be getting sick) I go to my oils and BAM they do their magic. Not even joking. I DO NOT have a primary care physician.

So where do I get my oils? Not at the grocery store. Not at the health food store. Nope. I get my Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils from Young Living. YL oils are pure no synthetic additives added. YL harvests all of their oils and they do this all over the world. Really a fascinating company.

How To Start Your Oil Journey

I started my oil journey out with a essential oil starter kit. The kit includes a diffuser (which I run every single day) and a variety of oils to begin with.

If you have any questions about oils feel free to contact me. I would love to help you get started on a healthier journey.

I could go on for hours if not days about these lovely little oils and all the people I have helped by introducing them to the oils but you probably want to get started on your own oil journey so that you can also share with your loved ones.

If you're ready to join me on the oil journey you can sign up here. I can walk you through sign up or we can meet up if you're in the Tulsa area. Let me know how I can help.

I almost forgot.....this bracelet is an essential oil diffuser bracelet. Add two drops of your favorite oil to palm of hands and roll bracelet in between your hands and now you have an oil diffuser to wear. How awesome is that.

Seriously though, these oils have changed my life in so many ways. I haven't felt healthier than I do right now. I love that I can simply refer to my essential oil guide book and learn ways to take care of ailments without resorting to using toxic drugs.

How Healthy Are Your Thoughts?

I saw some of these stats in another group along with this AMAZING book I'm reading called "Releasing Emotional Patterns With Essential Oils". This information will BLOW your mind.

Let me hit you with this: 87-93% of disease comes from our THOUGHT LIFE.

Are your thoughts KILLING you? Learn more over at

*Thoughts* become emotions, emotions become attitude. Our attitude is our reaction, and all of our daily reactions make up our *lifestyle.* I have shared this priceless information in the Mind Management section, head there after reading this "Blow your Mind" post.

Toxic Attitudes

It's no secret that our world is sicker than we've ever been with lifestyle diseases, which means that we are more filled with fear-based emotions than ever before. Fear-based emotions lead to toxic attitudes. Toxic attitudes produce toxic responses in the body. (Think migraines, hypertension, cancer, allergies, chronic pain, diabetes, and just really BAD THINGS.)

Dr. Bradley Nelson from "The Emotion Code" said "A trapped emotion is literally a ball of energy, and these will lodge anywhere in the body and disrupt the normal energy field of the body." Here again is another great tidbit of info I have shared in Body and Health Management, get caught up on this very informative section of the blog.

We Store Our Emotions

Sounds whacky, but it makes sense! Listen to this: Our emotions are stored in different parts of our body. (The book I'm reading pinpoints where all areas are effected from which emotions).

Anger is stored in the Liver & Gallbladder.
Worry is stored in the Stomach.
Grief is stored in the Lungs (ever experienced grief that felt like it took all the breath out of your lungs?)
Fear is stored in the Kidneys.
Stress is stored in the Heart.

Stinkin Thinkin

When my daughter and I went to speak to an energy master about her infertility and endometriosis he could very easily tell that she was on the right track with supplements and oils, but what was going to hold her back was what's in her head. Her thoughts. I like to call it stinkin thinkin.

So what does this mean? We must take care of our emotional health in order to take care of our physical self! Mind & body are so very connected.

Brain Tallk

Okay, so let's talk about the brain. We have this part of our brain called the Limbic System, which is referred to as "the emotional brain." Within the limbic system is something called the amygdala, which is where we PROCESS our emotions.

Now get this, of our 5 senses (sight, touch, taste, hearing, and smell), SMELL is the ONLY one that activates the limbic system! That is one reason why aromatherapy, or smelling and breathing in oils, is so incredibly powerful. We can diffuse or breathe in oils to open up our amygdala and process our emotions in a healthy way. SO COOL, right?

You Have The Power

Let's break it down even more and talk about cells. As you know, we are made up of an insane amount of cells. Your cells, just like your brain, have a memory. You have the power to make the memories positive or negative, but that's another story.

ANYWAY. The nucleus, which lives inside the cell, is the thinker. It tells the cell what to do (and it's where DNA is produced). According to Dr. Caroline Leaf, "research shows that DNA actually changes shape according to our thoughts. As you think those negative thoughts about the future - the week ahead, what a person might say or do, even in the absence of a concrete stimulus - that toxic thinking will change your brain wiring in a negative direction and throw your mind and body into stress."

Mind Blower

Is this blowing your mind too?! Okay, so information must go through the cell and into the nucleus so that it stays in communication and keeps working properly. How does the information pass through? Through what's called receptor sites.

But listen to this. *Negative or fear-based emotions damage the receptor sites on your cells.*

Just like chemical toxins (processed foods, GMOs, smoking, multiple beauty products) block those receptor sites, so do our fear-based emotions. And when the receptor sites are blocked, our cells don't get the information they need. THAT is how disease can take hold in the body.

Remember: 87-93% of disease comes from our THOUGHTS.

Changing your thoughts could save your life. Head over to to find out more.

Wondering now how you can correct any damage done to your receptor sites or how you can stop your stinkin thinkin. Here are several ways you can make these corrections and start living healthier with less disease.

  • Meditate
  • Yoga
  • Setting Intentions
  • Affirmations
  • Smudging
  • Energy Healing
  • Essential Oils

I will be going into more detail about all of the above practices to help correct the damage your stinkin thinkin has done but first lets discuss essential oils. You can find more information about the essential oils I use in the Essential Oils section of the blog.

**I also want to comment here that not all oils are created equal. Some have additives and are not 100% therapeutic grade like the oils I use.**

Essential Oils

What does this have to do with oils? Let me tell you!

Essential oils are made up of different constituents: monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, and phenols.

What do phenols do, you ask? They CLEAN AND REPAIR RECEPTOR SITES. Meaning that the damage that our fear-based emotions have caused can be cleaned and repaired by using essential oils.

Use oils, breathe them in, and they quickly work on your amygdala and affect every single cell in your body within 20 minutes. Even cooler, they're adaptogenic, which means that they will work on the receptor sites that need help.

Oils High in Phenols

To clean those receptor sites, look for oils high in phenols.

Some great ones include:
Cinnamon Bark

NOW What do sesquiterpenes do, you ask? They bring oxygen into the brain. This helps our amygdala (remember that is the emotion processing center of our brain) to work as it should.

So, when it comes to using oils for your emotional health - which is really your overall health, because remember: 87-93% of disease comes from our thought life/emotions - what should we look for?

Oils High in Sesquiterpenes

Some great options are:
Black Pepper

Using essential oils to clean and repair sites is the first step to improving your health. However, if you fail to recognize your thought patterns and do nothing to change them you will find yourself going in circles with your health.

Finding balance in your Mind, Body, and Soul is the key to a healthier you. When you use the essential oils you can start practicing your affirmations. You can start each day with setting your intentions for the day. Find 5 to 10 minutes a day to spend in a quiet room meditating and deep breathing.......this will do way more that you can ever imagine. Start a yoga practice.....I love Yoga with can click on the link to the right of the blog.

A Small Sacrafice

Adding the oils, affirmations, intentions, meditating, deep breathing, and yoga to your day is almost free. The oils are the only thing that will cost you money and the benefits you will receive will amaze you. Honestly you can add this to your day for as little as 40 - 50 minutes.

Seasonal Changes Change Your Skin

Your skin changes with the seasonal changes. Head over to to learn how to get softer skin with all natural ingredients.

When the seasons change so does the moisture levels in your skin.

Is your skin looking all dull and chalky? You know when you can scratch your name on your skin. That kinda of dry is when you need to give some extra attention to your skin.

Are You Drinking Enough Water?

First make sure you are drinking half of your body weight in ounces of water daily. Increase your intake if you're not getting enough of this VERY beneficial nutrient. If you are you make me so proud!

Then get down to some skin pampering. Don't goop up on a ton of lotions and body creams. Especially the kind loaded with synthetic ingredients. This will only further dry your skin and increase your exposure to toxins. Yikes!

The Natural Approach

By now you've figured out I really love the all natural approach to just about everything I do. This includes pampering my skin. I'm sharing some recipes for sugar scrubs that will slough off the dry skin and heavily moisturize your body.....leaving it oh so soft.

3 Types Of Sugars

Let's talk about the different sugars you'll be using to make your scrubs.

  • White sugar on your face. White sugar has finer granules and will not over scrub your delicate facial, neck, and chest skin.
  • Brown sugar on your body. Brown sugar has a little larger granule and works great on arms, legs, and trunk area.
  • Raw sugar on your feet and hands. Raw sugar has a larger granule and works great on softening those nasty callouses on your feet and hands.

Now you have the dirty on sugars. You will also need:

  • Olive oil
  • Unrefined Coconut oil
  • Vitamin E oil
  • Honey
  • Lavender essential oil
  • Peppermint essential oil
  • Lemon essential oil

I use glass jars to store my scrubs in. Mason jars work well. I keep my jars in the shower, it keeps the scrubs moist making it easier to scoop out and use.

Lavender Face Scrub

  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vitamin E oil
  • 10 drop of Lavender essential oil

Combine ingredients in bowl. Mix well. Store in sealed glass container. Gently massage into your clean wet skin, be careful around your eyes. Rinse with water, pat dry.

Peppermint Brown Sugar Body Scrub

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vitamin E oil
  • 10 drops of Peppermint essential oil

Combine ingredients in bowl. Mix well. Store in sealed glass container. Apply to wet skin, massage then rinse with water.

Lemon Sugar Hand and Foot Scrub

  • 1 cup of raw sugar
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 15 drops of Lemon essential oil

Combine ingredients in bowl. Mix well. Store in sealed glass container. Massage the scrub on your feet or hands. Rinse with water. After drying for extra moisturizing you can apply lotion and put on socks/gloves.

Ohhhh, So Soft

When the seasons change I pamper my skin 3-4 times a week. Who doesn't LOVE soft skin. Right?

Not one single toxin added in these recipes. Score! If your dog....which mine has.....licks some off the floor they will not get sick.

Now off to get your supplies and start pampering your skin tonight.
