Listen up my favorite people. YOU need to serious look at your magnesium intake. And I'm not talking table salt here, folks.
Magnesium is used by every organ in your body. Ya know, organs like your heart, muscles, and kidneys. Those guys are pretty important. So, if you've been suffering from fatigue, muscle weakness or spasms, or even abnormal heart rhythms you may have a magnesium deficiency.
Blood Test Won't Tell You
This news is not to be taken lightly or set aside to "I'll check on this later." News flash though, If you just had some blood work done and magnesium wasn't listed as a deficiency. It doesn't mean you don't have a deficiency because only 1% of magnesium in your body is distributed in your blood.
Estimates are showing up to 80% of Americans are not getting enough magnesium. WHAT!! This more than likely includes you........and I. Yikes!!!!! 80%, now that's a shit ton of people. Population of 318.9 million in 2014......80% is 255.1 million Americans with magnesium deficiency. Now those are some huge numbers people.

Herbicides blocks the utilization of minerals in most of our foods grown today. Then we go and cook the rest of the magnesium right out of our foods. Answer to this is grown your own food if you can.
Consuming a lot of sugary foods and beverages........which Americans just love to do..... causes your body to excrete magnesium through your kidneys.......resulting in magnesium loss.
Other factors to consider:
- Large amounts of soda or caffeine
- Older age
- An unhealthy digestive systems
Word of caution here about calcium, vitamin K2, vitamin D must be balanced with magnesium
So don't run out and get yourself a magnesium supplement or load up on these others. You must look at calcium, vitamin K2, vitamin D and magnesium together, because these guys all work synergistically with one another.
Too much calcium without the counterbalance of magnesium can lead to a heart attack. Your muscles tend to go into spasm with too much calcium and not enough magnesium. Your precious heart muscle is not a fan of this. Trust me.
Discuss with your doctor or do your research carefully when deciding how much of each of these essentials you are going to add to your daily diet.
Magnesium is found in leafy greens. Adding greens to your juicing is a good way to increase your magnesium. If you can't grow your own, organic may have more magnesium. Here's the beef on a magnesium supplement. There's no such thing as a 100% magnesium supplement. Increase your greens is a better bet.
My favorite way to increase my magnesium is to pamper myself in a nice hot epsom salt bath. I also make my own magnesium oil. I use 1:1 magnesium chloride brine flakes and water, simmer, cool, and add to a spray bottle. I add a several sprays to my coconut oil lotion (yep, I make it too) and apply to my legs and arms.

And by all means cut your sugar. I know this sugar issue keeps rearing its ugly head. Seriously though, sugar in excessive amounts will do you no good. You'll be surprised how much sugar you consume in one day. I was. I thought I was doing really good with keeping my sugar intake low, but after I documented my sugar intake for a week.......I freaked out.
I think I'm gonna go take a hot bath and let the magnesium restore my energies and remove some toxins. Of course, wine.....definitely wine will be in the picture. You'll be surprised that if you drink alcohol in excess, it may interfere with absorption of vitamin D, which in turn is helpful for magnesium absorption. SCORE! So two glass of wine it is.
Warning.....being a repeat offender to excessive alcohol consumption has it's own issues you don't want to deal with. Be smart. Be sassy.
