When the seasons change so does the moisture levels in your skin.

Is your skin looking all dull and chalky? You know when you can scratch your name on your skin. That kinda of dry is when you need to give some extra attention to your skin.

Are You Drinking Enough Water?

First make sure you are drinking half of your body weight in ounces of water daily. Increase your intake if you're not getting enough of this VERY beneficial nutrient. If you are you make me so proud!

Then get down to some skin pampering. Don't goop up on a ton of lotions and body creams. Especially the kind loaded with synthetic ingredients. This will only further dry your skin and increase your exposure to toxins. Yikes!

The Natural Approach

By now you've figured out I really love the all natural approach to just about everything I do. This includes pampering my skin. I'm sharing some recipes for sugar scrubs that will slough off the dry skin and heavily moisturize your body.....leaving it oh so soft.

3 Types Of Sugars

Let's talk about the different sugars you'll be using to make your scrubs.

  • White sugar on your face. White sugar has finer granules and will not over scrub your delicate facial, neck, and chest skin.
  • Brown sugar on your body. Brown sugar has a little larger granule and works great on arms, legs, and trunk area.
  • Raw sugar on your feet and hands. Raw sugar has a larger granule and works great on softening those nasty callouses on your feet and hands.

Now you have the dirty on sugars. You will also need:

  • Olive oil
  • Unrefined Coconut oil
  • Vitamin E oil
  • Honey
  • Lavender essential oil
  • Peppermint essential oil
  • Lemon essential oil

I use glass jars to store my scrubs in. Mason jars work well. I keep my jars in the shower, it keeps the scrubs moist making it easier to scoop out and use.

Lavender Face Scrub

  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vitamin E oil
  • 10 drop of Lavender essential oil

Combine ingredients in bowl. Mix well. Store in sealed glass container. Gently massage into your clean wet skin, be careful around your eyes. Rinse with water, pat dry.

Peppermint Brown Sugar Body Scrub

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vitamin E oil
  • 10 drops of Peppermint essential oil

Combine ingredients in bowl. Mix well. Store in sealed glass container. Apply to wet skin, massage then rinse with water.

Lemon Sugar Hand and Foot Scrub

  • 1 cup of raw sugar
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 15 drops of Lemon essential oil

Combine ingredients in bowl. Mix well. Store in sealed glass container. Massage the scrub on your feet or hands. Rinse with water. After drying for extra moisturizing you can apply lotion and put on socks/gloves.

Ohhhh, So Soft

When the seasons change I pamper my skin 3-4 times a week. Who doesn't LOVE soft skin. Right?

Not one single toxin added in these recipes. Score! If your dog....which mine has.....licks some off the floor they will not get sick.
