Break The Chains
I want to start out with saying this blog post is going to be graphic. I'm not color coating anything in it. The topic I'm sharing today will stop you dead in your tracks and make you want to sit down and bow your head in disbelief.
As a Mom and now a Lola I will be preaching the words......PROTECT your children. There are MONSTERS among us. They come in all kinds of disguises. The super nice neighbor. The neighbor that will ALWAYS come to your cry for help. Or simply a nice individual you meet out in the community.
Now that you're freaking your shit out. As you should be. Not all neighbors or friendly people you meet are monsters. But. If your gut is telling you something isn't quit right....then it probably isn't.
As a Mom. As a Lola. And as a past DVIS (Domestic Violence Intervention Services) advocate I saw some shit. I have advocated for individuals from the age of 3 to 86 years old. Yes. THREE. Years. Old.
I advocated for individuals who had been sexually assaulted. So. Three years old......Oh my GOD.
Let me tell you. The emotions of anger and sorrow that filled my soul when I was called out to advocate for this 3 year old was so intense. It took all I had to keep my cool. To not want to go bat shit crazy on someone.
I sat with this precious 3-year old and held her hand and brushed the hair from her face as she told her story, as she got photographed, as she got swabbed. NO, 3 three year or anybody for that matter should experience this in their life time.
But, she did. And. It happens.
Every. Single. Day.
So when I was asked last month if I wanted to be part of a project to help rescue a child from brothels and rehabilitate them with hope and skills for a better future. I was quick to say HELLZ YEAH!!!!
Destiny Rescue is an internationally-recognized Christian non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing children trapped in the sex trade. Their vision is to rescue the sexually exploited and enslaved, restore the abused, protect the vulnerable, empower the poor and be a voice for those who can’t speak up for themselves.
There are children all over the world even in the country you live in who are sold into sex slavery.....yes, by their own parents.....difficult to believe, but it happens and children who are snatched off of the streets and placed in a sex brothel. Makes you sick doesn't it.
Grown human beings who pray on a innocent child who is outside playing.
They have NO problem placing this innocent child into sex slavery.
Awh!!! Makes me so angry. A child. Seriously. Makes my blood boil.
So, obviously I couldn't say no. These babes need us more now than ever. This has got to STOP.
I have joined some of my favorite creative babes to raise $$$ to assist Destiny Rescue in rehabilitating a rescued child. The $$$ help a child restore their freedom and break the chains of sex slavery. My vision is that we are able to rescue more than one child. Each child rescued costs an average of $1,500. Together we can make a difference for another human being. We can give the gift of a future that it paved with hope.
Hello World Paper Co is donating $1 for every stamp sold during the week of April 10-17th and the week of Mother's Day. Ruby & Pearl Press is donating 25% of her sales April thru June, Darling Rage Creations is donating 15% of her sales April thru June, and The Onyx Feather is donating $4 for every purchase from the Freedom Collection April thru June.
The Freedom Collection took some time to come together. I wanted it to be meaningful and represent the bravery these children are struggling to maintain.
When creating something as special as this it takes time and it takes all the right pieces to fall into place.
I sat in the studio with ALL of my materials and ........well, pretty much meditated until something spoke to me. And, not in the creepy scary voice. It's more of a gentle nudge in the direction I need to focus on. Then all the things fell into place.
Each of us amazing bad ass boss babes have been emotional drawn to this project. We are hoping that you join us making this project a HUGE success. Lets bring these babes to safety, security, hope, and a brighter future.
Visit each of the creatives in this project and I bet you will find a wonderful gift for yourself or a grad you know or even a special gift for your Momma for Mother's Day. You'll bring home a gift and you'll be part of a project that will be breaking the chains of sex slavery for a child who deserves freedom and a brighter future.
